MV North Star IV
"Fifty years ago the wooden hulled tug ROCKY RIVER was a regular sight in the Welland Canal. It was part of the Ontario Paper Company fleet and pulled their pulpwood and newsprint barges in and out of Thorold. The 53.18 metre long vessel was later sold and renamed for salvage and towing work on the east coast and then in 1960, resold and became the NORTH STAR IV. The tug was engaged in hydrographic work when it stranded on an uncharted rock pinnacle off Grey Goose Island in James Bay on Aug 14, 1961. The crew were marooned on an islet before being spotted and rescued by a passing freighter and taken to Fort George."
